What is Packetor?

Packetor is a free, browser-based tool designed to decode raw hexadecimal network packets and visualize their protocol structure. It provides a similar experience to Wireshark, but focuses on decoding a single packet at a time, making it lightweight and easy to use directly from your browser.

You simply paste the hex dump of a network packet, and Packetor will analyze it using the powerful tshark engine (the same one behind Wireshark). The tool identifies the encapsulated protocols, decodes headers and fields, and displays the structure in a clear, readable format.

Key Features

Recent Improvements

The tool has recently undergone a full redesign. The backend was rewritten for better performance and reliability. New features include a graphical view of protocol layers, improved parsing, and the ability to select a specific Layer 2 protocol instead of assuming Ethernet by default.

Privacy First

Packetor is built with user privacy in mind. No personal information is collected, stored, or shared. All user inputs are discarded immediately after processing. Your data never leaves your browser longer than necessary to decode the packet.

Use Cases

Whether you're a network engineer, student, reverse engineer, or just curious about what's inside a packet, Packetor makes it easy to inspect and analyze network traffic without installing any software.

It’s especially useful when you only need to decode a single packet quickly — no need to upload PCAP files or launch full applications.
